SimPPL
Programs

Technology development and capacity building, in one stack.

SimPPL builds the platforms, and runs the reskilling and upskilling programmes, that help newsrooms, clinicians, and engineers use AI responsibly. Each vertical pairs a SimPPL-built system with hands-on training, so the people closest to the work can keep operating the technology after the engagement ends.

Sakhi field deployment with frontline health workers.
AI for Healthcare

Credible health information delivery, built with the workers who deliver care.

Sakhi operationalises SimPPL's information-trust mission for antenatal care: a WhatsApp chatbot in Marathi, Hindi, and Bangla, deployed inside field RCTs in India and Bangladesh. We co-build with frontline health workers and clinicians, then upskill them on how to keep operating the system once SimPPL steps back.

AI training for journalists across Kenya, Nairobi (October 2025).
AI for Journalism

Training newsroom leaders and reporters to use AI responsibly.

We design and run AI capacity-building programmes for newsroom partners worldwide: DW Akademie, NEST Center for Journalism in Mongolia, Africa Uncensored / Odipodev in Nairobi, and the Google News Initiative's JournalismAI Skills Lab and Innovation Challenge. Arbiter was featured as a JournalismAI case study in 2025.

NextGenAI fellows and instructors.
AI for Education

Training the next generation of responsible AI engineers.

NextGenAI is a year-long capstone fellowship for undergraduate teams, supported by Google and Mozilla across two named tracks. Students learn to build, evaluate, and ship AI systems responsibly. Sakhi itself spun out of NextGenAI.
